To identify your needs, to have information on French drains or to see how we work, it is always interesting to compare with what has already been done.

What is a French drain?

French drains are perforated drains installed around the perimeter of the foundation to drain water that accumulates around a building. It can be connected to the rainwater system of a municipality or to a catchment basin located inside a residence. Its purpose is to remove the water pressure in the soil and to prevent any infiltration between the footing and the foundation wall.

Types of drains

Several types of French drains are used depending on the type of soil where the work is done. In all cases, the drain must be covered with a minimum of 8 inches (20 cm) of crushed stone to allow it to function properly, facilitating the flow of water.

The “glance”

In order to facilitate the maintenance of the drains, “chimneys” called “glances” are installed. They also facilitate the insertion of a camera to establish a diagnosis during problems.
